First Article: CBC Monkstown, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin

We are a 3rd year class from The Christian Brothers' College in Monkstown Park, Dublin.

The theme our class have chosen for the Young Reporter for the Environment is Coastline.

Preliminary Findings:

  1. From our visits to the coastline we have noticed the beach and rocks have a lot of litter on them.
  2. The coastline between Blackrock and Booterstown has a very bad smell. There is a bird sanctuary in Booterstown.

Plan of Action:

  1. Visit the coastline and make note of types of rubbish that is on the coastline.
  2. Investigate why there is a bad smell at the bird sanctuary and whether this could be having a negative effect on the birds.
  3. Interview swimmers who swim everyday at Monkstown/Salthill.
